Cheese sandwiches can be grilled so that the bread toasts and the cheese melts (a dish referred to as a grilled cheese sandwich, or simply grilled cheese). A grilled cheese is often heated by placing the buttered slices of bread, with the cheese between the slices, on a frying pan or griddle.

 

Beer Battered Grilled Cheese Sandwich Recipe

Melty cheese, smoky bacon and beer-battered bread make this grilled cheese the ultimate comfort food.

Ingredients

  • 6 slices hickory-smoked bacon
  • 4 slices rustic white bread
  • 2 slices provolone cheese (3/4 oz each)
  • 2 slices Cheddar cheese (3/4 oz each)
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup pale ale beer
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon chipotle chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Beer Battered Grilled Cheese Sandwich Recipe

Directions

  1. In 12-inch non-stick skillet, cook bacon until crisp; drain on paper towel.
  2. On 2 of the bread slices, place 1 slice provolone cheese, 3 slices bacon and 1 slice Cheddar cheese on each. Top with remaining bread slices.
  3. Heat griddle or skillet over medium-high heat or to 375°F. In shallow bowl, beat egg, beer, flour and chili powder with fork until smooth. Dip each sandwich into batter, giving it a few seconds on each side to absorb the batter; drain excess batter back into bowl.
  4. Melt butter on hot griddle. Place sandwiches on griddle. Cook 3 to 4 minutes on each side until golden brown.

The Grilled Gobbler Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 slices Italian bread
  • 1 Tbsp. Miracle Whip Original Spread, divided
  • 1 tsp. Heinz Dijon Mustard
  • 1 Kraft Singles Cheese Slice
  • 40 g shaved deli turkey breast
  • 2 slices tomato

Directions

  1. Spread 1 bread slice with 1 tsp. Miracle Whip; spread remaining bread slice with mustard. Fill bread slices with Singles, turkey and tomatoes.
  2. Spread outside of sandwich with remaining Miracle Whip.
  3. Cook in skillet on medium heat 3 min. on each side or until golden brown on both sides.

Waffle Maker Grilled Cheese Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 slices sandwich bread
  • 3 oz cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp salted butter, at room temperature

Directions

  1. Preheat the waffle iron while you assemble the sandwiches.
  2. Spread one slice of bread with butter, only on one side (this is the side that will have direct contact with the waffle iron). Place the cheese slices on top of this slice of bread, then spread the other slice of bread with butter, only on one side. Place the unbuttered side against the cheese, then place this entire sandwich on the waffle iron. Close the top of the waffle iron, but do not press down and smash the sandwich. Let this cook for 3-5 minutes until the bread is brown and crispy and the cheese has melted. Enjoy!

Lobster Grilled Cheese Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4-6 tablespoons (1/2 to ¾ stick) butter, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon chili paste
  • ½ cup (4 ounces) Wisconsin Mascarpone Cheese, softened
  • 2 scallions, thinly sliced (white and green parts)
  • ¼ cup tomatoes, small dice
  • 4 slices country-style white bread
  • 4 thin slices Wisconsin Provolone Cheese
  • ½ cup arugula
  • 1 cup cooked lobster, coarsely copped

Directions

  1. In small bowl stir together butter and chili paste. Set aside. In medium bowl stir together Wisconsin Mascarpone Cheese, scallions and tomatoes. Spread Mascarpone mixture over each bread slice, evenly dividing.
  2. Top Mascarpone on 2 slices with 2 Provolone slices followed by arugula, evenly dividing. Arrange lobster in even layer over arugula, then top with remaining Provolone slices followed by remaining bread slices, Mascarpone-side-down.
  3. In large nonstick skillet, melt 2-3 tablespoons butter over medium heat. Place sandwiches in skillet and spread remaining butter over sandwich tops. Cook sandwiches until bottom bread is golden brown, about 3 minutes. Using a spatula, carefully flip sandwiches, pressing down gently. Continue cooking additional 3 minutes, or until both sides are golden brown and filling is warm and melted.

Triple Brie Melt Grilled Cheese Sandwich Recipe

  • 2 slices white French bread (thick slices)
  • 2 1/4″ slices of triple crème Brie
  • 4 slices prosciutto (thin slices)
  • 1 Tbsp strawberry preserve (generous Tbsp)
  • butter

Directions

  1. Lay the sliced brie on both sides of sliced white French loaf, then spread a layer strawberry preserves and add thinly sliced Prosciutto.
  2. Brush with butter and cook in a Panini press for 3 minutes or until golden brown.

Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup cooked shredded chicken, warm
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon mayo (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon carrot, grated
  • 1 tablespoon celery, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon green or red onion, sliced or diced
  • 1 tablespoon blue cheese, room temperature, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, room temperature, grated
  • 2 slices bread
  • 1 tablespoon butter, room temperature

Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese Sandwich Recipe

Directions

  1. Mix the chicken, hot sauce, mayo, carrot, celery and onion in a small bowl.
  2. Butter the outside of each slice of bread, sprinkle half of the cheeses on the inside of one slice of bread, top with the buffalo chicken salad, the remaining cheese and finally the other slice of bread.
  3. Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat.
  4. Add the sandwich and grill until golden brown and the cheese has melted, about 2-4 minutes per side.

Directions

  1. If you don’t have any ground beef, cook that to your liking first (I just used salt, pepper and garlic). Now let’s start with the sandwich: crush all the Doritos and spread them on a plate, dip one side of each bread slice in the egg and then into the Doritos. Once you’ve done this, begin assembling the sandwich with sour cream on one slice and salsa on the other. Next place a layer of cheese on the bottom slice, then stack on the rest of ingredients and finish with another layer of cheese and your top slice.
  2. In a pan on medium heat, add some butter. Once that has melted, place your sandwich in, cooking each side until browned and the cheese is melting. You may want to cover your pan with a lid while it’s cooking to help the cheese melt, since there is so much stuff in the sandwich.
  3. Once everything is ooey gooey, slice it in half and enjoy all your favourite nacho toppings in one glorious sandwich. If you’re feeling ambitious, you can even make your own salsa and guacamole for dipping!
