Realizing we are running out of summer weekends, we decided to head to Waskesiu today. Mark had to work so we took Oliver and spent the day wandering around the town. This is just after Oliver splashed me and I ran him down in the water. In his attempt to get away, he fell in and got himself soaked.Just a friendly arm wrestling match as we check out some of Parks Canada famed red chairs.
We did a bit of shopping. Got some ice cream and then headed up the Narrows Road to check out the Marina and the Narrows Campground which I had never gone in. We picked out a couple of good spots for when we go up there for Thanksgiving and camp for the long weekend as a family.
Well we have our campground booked at the Johnston Canyon campground in Banff National Park for this July. We had originally planned to stay at the Castle Mountain Campground but it is first come/first serve and we wanted to know that our spot was reserved. So we got a spot that was quiet and cozy which keeps us away from any motorhomes and campers that may stop by. It will be a great homebase for the week.
The big challenge for the kids and to a degree us is that this is not an electried campground. No chance to plugin and charge devices which is going to be nice. The cell phones will be left off and in the car and while we will have cameras, the trip is going to be very analog.

Safeway has been running a promotion where you can collect stamps and redeem them for a Zwilling J.A. Henckels Five Star Knife. I started to collect the stamps, lost my stamps, collected some more and got a Santoku knife today. On the Zwilling website, it shows them being sold for $175. Since I got it for free, it was a pretty sweet deal. It is also the sharpest knife I have ever owned. It is so sharp that it kind of freaks me out.
You can collect and redeem them until February. If you haven’t started, it’s not too late.
